2010 Thanksgiving Trip to Springfield and Kansas City, MO

In late November, 2010, Dennis and Deb journeyed to Missouri to spend the Thanksgiving period with Rob, Belle, Clare and Sammy.  After driving to the Newark (Liberty) Airport (EWR), we flew via Continental Express to the Kansas City International Airport (MCI). We then rented a car and drove to Springfield where the DeLong/Federman family lives. Following a wonderful traditional Thanksgiving feast prepared by Belle, we spent the Wednesday early evening to Saturday morning period in Springfield and, in addition to watching numerous sporting events, we celebrated birthdays for both Deb and Clare. Since this was Clare's 16th, her birthday was (is) the primary focus and included a lucious cheesecake prepared by Belle and a great meal at a local Japanese restaurant (Clare's choice - she loves "sushi"). Saturday we all traveled to Kansas City and enjoyed several restaurants, the Negro Leagues and World War I Museums, as well as the City in general (it was the first time in the KC for Deb and Dennis other than a drive-through as part of their cross-country trip in  2003).  The pictures and texts below capture some of the flavor of this rewarding visit. Note: there is a link to "Going to KC" by Wilbert Harrison beneath the bottom pictures.
