Currently. Dennis operates a consulting firm he and his wife Deborah began in 2003, Going Places  Consulting, providing consulting and grant writing services to municipalities and other organizations Between July 2007 and late May 2010, Dennis served as Dean, Center for Graduate and Continuing Studies, for Caldwell College in NJ. In the 2005-2007 period ly, Dennis also operated Going Places Consulting. During this period. he also completed a science fiction novel, entitled: Encounter With the Trigorian Extrterrestrials. In addition, Dennis has taught distance courses for Empire State College, Kaplan Unversity and Marist College. In 2006, he was licensed by NYS as a real estate sales person and accpted an affiliation with Prudential Rand Realty in Briarcliff, NY. Dennis resigned  his position as Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the School of Graduate and Continuing Education at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. effective June 30, 2005.  He previously served as  Dean, University College, Chapman University, based in Orange, CA from 9/3/01 to 9/5/03, and in several roles for the System Office of the Connecticut State University System in Hartford, CT, from early 1999 to the Summer of 2001 including Interim Chief Academic Officer. From 1981-1998, Dennis served in a number of faculty and administrative roles for SUNY Empire State College, including Dean of Graduate Studies.  Earlier in his ESC career, Dennis was Dean, Eastern Region (Central and Eastern NYS) based in Syracuse and Dean and Associate Dean of the Capital District Regional Center based in Albany. 1978-1981, Dennis held the position,  Professor-in-Residence" with the NYS Assembly and prior to this he was Assistant Professor of Political Science at the SUNY College at Plattsburgh.
